McKienzie Farm is a Full Board Facility.  Since this can mean different things to different facilities let me explain what we offer.

Every boarder/boarder's horse will be provided with the basic Full Board package.

This includes the following:

Stalling:    12x12 stall with light, ceiling fan, and window to the outside (which can be closed in bad weather)

Water:    2-3 water buckets rinsed daily /washed weekly or as needed (we do not use auto waterers as monitoring a horse's water intake is vital to catching illness early)

Stall Cleaning:    Daily - 2 times daily stall cleaning.  Stalls are bedded with fresh PELLETED BEDDING

Turn Out:    Daily turnout - we guarantee a minimum of 4 hrs turnout (weather provided) with most horses usually getting upward of 8 (12 if they are on overnight turnout).  We will work with owners to find the best schedule for their horse, training needs, and special needs issues.  If the horse requires boots/protective gear for turnout we will put that on (no charge)

Feedings:    Horses are fed 2-3 times daily (based on needs).

Grain:  Our basic feed program includes Purina Ultium and/or Horsemen's Edge 12% sweet feed as we have found great success with them  with  a wide range of horse types.  Different types of feed can be accommodated for special needs.

Hay:    We feed high quality Timothy/Alfalfa and/or straight Alfalfa based on availability. Our regular supplier ships hay from the north all year long to provide a constant supply of good quality hay. In the winter months we also supplement their turnout by providing (when available) good quality Tifton 44 Hay rolls which have been stored under cover and specifically grown for horse use.  These rolls are good hay purchased from local growers to insure freshness and good quality.

Supplements:  We will feed owner provided supplements  (up to two) at no additional charge.

Blanketing:  Each owner may provide one sheet and one blanket of which McKienzie Farm will sheet/blanket horses in cold weather.  We will discuss with each owner the specific temperature ranges for their individual horse as each horse may be different.  If more layering is wanted by owner this is considered an additional item and will be a separate charge.

Tack Room Use:    Each boarder will be provided a space for a tack trunk as well as a saddle rack and bridle rack for their equipment.  The Tack Room is air conditioned in order to keep all tack in good working order.  We do not have lockers.  This is a small facility where everyone knows everyone and no one uses other people's stuff without permission.

Arena Use:  Riders have access to at least one riding arena at all times.  If a specific ring is preferred a rider can make a request to have it available for them at a scheduled time.  For more details on the arena's go to the Facilities  page.

Bathroom Facilities:    There is a portable building on the property which houses a full bathroom and kitchen for boarders' use.

Trailer Parking:    2-3 horse trailers may be parked on the property at no additional charge.

Vet and Farrier Care:

Vet:  McKienzie Farm schedules semi-annual visits with Daniels and Daniels veterinary service for routine shots and vet care.  If a boarder wishes to use them we will add their horse to the schedule and arrange billing directly to client with Daniels and Daniels.  A boarder is NOT required to use our vet.  A boarder may use any vet they prefer. They will however be responsible for arranging, attending and paying for services rendered.  Every horse must have at a minimum rabies and coggins test annually and EWT bi-annually. West Nile vaccines are recommended but not required.

Farrier:  McKienzie Farm uses Bud Malone for all our farrier needs.  If a boarder wishes to use his services we will arrange the appointments to coordinate with the current schedule. Boarders will need to leave a check for the appropriate amount in advance written to Bud Malone.  We do NOT require clients to use our farrier.  Boarders may use any farrier they want.  If a boarder chooses to use a different farrier however, they will be required to arrange, attend and pay for services rendered with that farrier.

Worming:  McKienzie Farm rotates between several paste/gel wormers on an 8-12 wk basis depending on the time of year. A boarder may use our worming schedule and just pay for the wormer used or may implement their own worming program.  If a client chooses to do their own worming program they must approve it with the farm to insure it meets minimum requirements for safe worming practices.

Additional Services offered include but not limited to:  Training, Instruction, Grooming, Vet prescribed treatment/care, additional supplementation, additional blanketing, etc.  Please contact us for further details and rates.
